To determine eligibility and qualification criteria for centrally-inserted central venous catheter (CICVC) insertion, the healthcare professional must collaborate with the appropriate regulatory body governing their practice (i.e., the relevant State Board of Nursing for registered nurses).
Below are useful links to the websites of the Boards of Nursing in each state. In some states, the website of the regulatory body may have a “decision tree” document to aid the clinician in determining their scope of practice. Where applicable, links have also been provided to the “decision tree” documents provided by these states.
Please note that both websites and regulations frequently change. It is the responsibility of the clinician to ensure they have the most current and accurate information regarding their scope of practice.
