NAUTILUS DELTA ™ TCS

Getting to the Point of Pediatric PICC Insertion

Introducing one of the first tip confirmation systems indicated as an alternative to X-Ray for PICC tip placement in pediatric patients. The NAUTILUS DELTA™ Tip Confirmation System (TCS) is indicated to place PICCs of at least 3 Fr in size in patients greater than 2 years of age with an identifiable P-wave.

How Many X-rays Have You Eliminated Today?

The NAUTILUS DELTA™ TCS eliminates the need for confirmatory X-Ray for PICC placement of 3 Fr and up in patients greater than age 2 with an identifiable P-wave.

NAUTILUS DELTA ™ TCS

Traditionally, tip confirmation of PICCs
in pediatric patients has been routinely accomplished by confirmatory X-ray, introducing harmful radiation to the patient and increasing time to release the catheter for IV therapy.

The NAUTILUS DELTA™ TCS uses ECG technology to display the patients ECG signal to place the tip of the PICC in proximity to the cavoatrial junction (CAJ). ECG technology generally utilizes changes in the patients P-wave when it is present, identifiable, and consistent on the patient's ECG tracing. These changes are then interpreted by the clinician in order to place the tip of the PICC in the lower 1/3 of the superior vena cava (SVC) and/or CAJ. This method has been well documented in several studies.

“The intracavitary electrocardiography (IC-ECG) method is safe and accurate in the pediatric patient as much as in adults . . . compared with X-ray, IC-ECG has the obvious advantages of allowing an accurate verification of the tip position that is intra-procedural, and without X-ray exposure.”

-Rosetti (JVA 2014)

Benefits

Indicated for use as an alternative method to chest X-ray and fluoroscopy for tip placement of PICCs at least 3 Fr in size in patients greater than two years of age with an identifiable P-wave

Almost immediate confirmation of PICC tip position at the bedside and immediate release of the PICC line

Eliminates time previously spent waiting for X-ray confirmation readings

Eliminates confirmatory chest X-ray exposure to the patient and the clinician

Simultaneous view of external and intravascular ECG Provides comparative ECG waveforms for interpretation of P-wave changes and to assist in maximum P-wave identification and catheter tip placement in proximity to the cavoatrial junction

Features

Simultaneous view of external and intravascular ECG
Provides comparative ECG waveforms for interpretation of P-wave changes and to assist in maximum P-wave identification and catheter tip placement in proximity to the cavoatrial junction

Maintain sterile field
Through-drape connection allows the clinician to maintain maximal-barrier sterile field during placement. Wireless remote allows the clinician to maintain sterility while interfacing with NAUTILUS DELTA™ TCS

Tip confirmation documentation
Allows for PICC tip location to be easily documented in a patient's chart by printing or transferring the electronic file from the NAUTILUS DELTA™ TCS System

Guideline compliance
Helps the clinician comply with AVA, INS, and NANN guidelines for proper PICC placement by helping to position the PICC tip in proximity to the cavoatrial junction

Hardware

The NAUTILUS DELTA™ TCS is comprised of three main components:

Display

The display offers a keyboard for patient information to be entered easily and a touchscreen interface for system navigation. The system can be used with an optional wireless remote to accommodate access from across the bed.

Patient Module

The patient module interfaces between the patient and the display to capture both the external and intravascular patient ECG signals and display them on screen for the clinician to interpret for PICC tip confirmation.

ECG Cable

The ECG cable connects to the patient module and is applied to the patient with the ECG electrode pads included in the NAUTILUS DELTA™ PICC kits.
